Madrid – the dog’s bollocks

Paris may be infamous for its tiny green vehicles specialized in removing dog droppings from Les Avenues. Madrid on the other hand deserves a special mention for being the most dog friendly city I’ve ever come across ! There are dogs everywhere. In fact, on sunny days it seems that the only ones without a dog on a leash are the tourists.

Now you may think that this results in messy pavements and noisy dog growling. You’ll have to think again. The streets are spotless, and the only time you’ll hear the canines is when they get a bit excited at meeting a friend. The initial sniff occasionally causes a bark or two. I can only assume it’s dog for “Hola Pedro – que pasa?”

Personally I’m not a big dog aficionado. However, the dogs in Madrid charmed me into talking to them, asking their owners their names and photographing them. Here are some of the perros who put a smile on my face:

There's no doubt about it, if I was a dog I would definitely like to be the madrileño type
